...your wi-fi keeps dropping out

Designing your home so your wi-fi router is very, very far away from your microwave. Ideally, your router should be somewhere central to the home and up high and running on the 5GHz band - this will remove the microwave interference but at the expense of broadcast distance 😥

Or, if that's not possible, ditch the microwave, go back to basics and just eat raw vegetables - internet trumps hot food, right?

Kitchen
...your retinas are burned during a 2am toilet visit

Installing dimmed lighting in your toilet. You can add low-wattage lighting behind the toilet or within open shelving as an accent (bonus points if the lighting is triggered to turn on by a movement sensor).

Not only will this look fancy, but you'll be provided with just enough light for you to do your business at 2am and return to bed with your retinas intact.

Toilet
...you can't find a matching lid for a pot

Installing a pot lid organiser or building in a slotted shelf (similar to a wooden drying rack) into your pot drawer/cupboard to hold each pot lid upright, side-by-side. Aside from then being able to quickly find the right lid (every lid will have its own 'slot'), the racked lids will take up less space compared to leaving them freely rolling around.

For extra OCD points, arrange the pot lids in order of largest to smallest diameter.

Kitchen
...you are stuck without toilet paper

Building a (preferably inbuilt) toilet paper cupboard into the toilet room itself. Not only will this force you to store your toilet paper there, but it'll double as a handy hideaway for the toilet brush, air freshener can, etc.
